Community family and friends

Before we get to the weekend I wanted to send you some love and some notes.  I really am excited about the future of our church which includes this coming Sunday as we gather to worship.  Sunday is week 3 of our Philippians series, and I ask you to read chapter 3 before you get to church.
10 YEAR CELEBRATION
Beginning Sunday, November 6th we will be celebrating the 10th birthday of The Community Fellowship, and for 10 weeks we will be looking at the history and we believe as a church.  This will take place through January 8th.  On Sunday the 6th of November we will have a special worship time at our building in Collinsville, then we will go to the back porch of our new campus for lunch and the finale will be a special time of celebration at the new campus.  This will include tours and prayer time at the building as well as baptism.  Help us get the word out.
FEEDING MINISTRY
Would you like to join the team that helps feed our hungry and homeless friends in Martinsville?  This meal happens each Saturday at 5pm, and you could be a great addition to this team.  You can also help with the 2nd Saturday morning.  See Brian or Sandy Weaver to join in.
RACEWAY MINISTRY

Next weekend is the NASCAR race in Martinsville, and your help is needed.  Volunteers are needed to help run the ADA carts and serve under the tent Friday, Saturday and Sunday (October 28-30).  See Pastor Michael or sign up this Sunday after community worship.
HALLOWEEN
We are linking up with BTW21 once again to welcome kids and their families to our church parking lot Monday night, October 31st.  It is from 6 to 9pm.  Help is needed preparing hot dogs and the fixings on Monday.  Please buy candy and bring it by the church every chance you get.  We also need several old and cool cars to help with our special “cruise in” trunk-or-treat.  There will be police cars, firetrucks, special vehicles and lots more.  Come out and help us.  Let Michele Dyer or Bonnie Burnette know you want to help.
BAPTISM
As I said earlier we will be celebrating BAPTISM on Sunday, November 6th at our celebration at the new campus.  Please sign up this week at church, call the church or see Pastor Michael for details.  There is room for you and your family to be part of this.
FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

On Monday, November 7th we will be serving FCA students at Patrick Henry Community College.  Our ladies (from our English and Spanish speaking worship) will be preparing the meal, and Pastors Miguel and Michael will be sharing.  Please come out and help.
HOMELESS FRIENDS & WINTER / WARMING CENTER
We are blessed to serve homeless friends each week, and we are in need of funds to help these friends.  It costs $30 per night.  Currently plans are being made for this year’s Winter / Warming Center.  There will be a volunteer and informational meeting on Monday, November 7th at 7pm at The Salvation Army.  Please plan to attend this meeting if you would like to help.  Pass the word to others who would like to help with ministry to homeless friends.
NEW CAMPUS

Lots of great things are happening at the new campus.  In the coming weeks we will be completing the plumbing in the bathrooms, putting a roof on the office building, and continuing to finish walls and more.  Thank you Kasim and Cindy Adams as well as many other volunteers who help.  Will you join in?  Give to the vision fund to help.  Let Kasim know you want to help.
DEMONSTRATE THE LOVE OF GOD TO OUR COMMUNITY
That is still God’s call on our church.  We are to serve our community and show them God’s love with no strings attached.  We do this as individuals and as a church.  You are an important part of changing the world through all God has given us.
Now for a personal word.  Last week Julie and I shared with the church that our daughter Rebecca will marry Josh Byrd on October 25th.  Please pray for Josh and Rebecca as well as both our families.  We are excited about their decision.  Josh is in the ARMY and finishes his training that day as well.  He will be going to another school toward the middle of November.  If you would like to bless Rebecca and Josh, please let us know.
I love each of you.  I know and believe with all my heart that our best days as a church are ahead of us.  It takes all of us to be successful.  I challenge you to stay faithful in your serving, attending and giving (remember you can give online at the link below).  Our new campus is coming together, and it is an exciting time to be part of The Community.
See you Sunday at 10:10am as we examine our value and the awesome truth of knowing Jesus that we find in Philippians 3.
With GOD as my guide,
Pastor Michael Harrison
